Change your background

To help maintain privacy during a call, you can blur your background or upload a background image. Others on the call will be able to clearly see you, but whatever is behind you will be blurred or obscured.

Note: You cannot change your background if you join the call from a mobile phone.

The way you change your background depends on the call type:

Individual appointment, Consult Now, or meeting room

To blur the background, follow these steps:

  1. In the call screen, select More More button and then Change background. The change-background panel opens.

  2. Select Blur .

  3. To remove the blur, select No effect .

To upload a new background, follow these steps:

  1. In the call screen, select More More buttonand then Change background. The change-background panel opens.

  2. Select Upload .

  3. Choose an image file from your device. Images must have a width between 800 and 8000 pixels and a height between 600 and 6000 pixels. Image files must be 5MB or smaller.

  4. To remove the background image, select No effect .

In the small preview of your camera the background appears mirrored, but other participants see the image correctly.

Group consultation

  1. Select either of the following options:

    • More actions button. (More settings button) and then Select Background button. (Select background button).

    • (Video settings button, available on desktops only) and then Select Background button. (Select background button).

  2. From the Virtual backgrounds window, select Blur and then select Apply.

Tip: In a group consultation, you can also select an image as a background.

To remove the blur or image, repeat the steps above, but select None instead of Blur.
