Waiting area links

Waiting area links allow service usersClosed A person who is seeking care or advice from a service provider via video call. A service user may be a patient, client, consumer, citizen, or similar. to access services via video call. These links can be added to your organisation's web site, and to appointment letters, emails, or text messages that you send.

Short URLs

A base, or friendly, URL can be set for your organisation in the form of a short URL. Short URLs redirect to longer URLs, and can serve as the prefix for each waiting area's link name. This makes it easier to share links with your service users.

Example: If your organisation's long URL is https://your-health-site.attendanywhere.co.uk/ you can replace it with a short URL, such as https://health.vc. Instead of a waiting area's URL being https://your-health-site.attendanywhere.co.uk/neurology, it would be https://health.vc/neurology.

If there are multiple types of organisations using your site, you can request additional short URLs with different domain names. These can be used to more accurately describe the type of organisation each waiting area belongs to.

Example: Along with healthcare, your site may also be used by legal and social service providers. You could request short URL domains such as https://legal.vc and https://social.vc, which you can assign to different organisational units. These will become the prefixes for your waiting area URLs, so you might have https://legal.vc/trusts or https://social.vc/benefits.

To request additional short URLs, contact your video call platform support representative. After your requested short URLs have been set up, you can select the one you need from the General Information dialog of the organisational unit settings.

Important: After you start using additional short URLs, existing links and bookmarks will continue to work.

Direct-entry links

For regular service users who always use the same device to join their video calls, you can set up a direct-entry link that they can save to their device. This means they just need to click to join the call - no need to enter their name or contact details. For more information, see .
